about
Dr Janet Moo Tein Ni
Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) · Registered Dance Movement Psychotherapist (RDMP) · Neurodiversity Consultant · Lecturer · Researcher
I am a psychologist and dance movement psychotherapist working with autistic and neurodivergent children, families, and organisations — through therapy, training, and research. I am also an Honorary Fellow at the University of Hong Kong’s Centre on Behavioral Health, and a Module Leader at the University of Lancashire London.
I trained as a dancer before I trained as a therapist, teaching street dance in Malaysia before bringing Dance Movement Psychotherapy to the country as one of its first practitioners. Further training in the UK, a PhD in Hong Kong researching family-centred practice with autistic children, and over a decade working across schools, clinics, and community settings followed. What has stayed constant throughout is a conviction that the body holds what words sometimes cannot reach.

WHAT PARTNERS SAY
“My class absolutely loved the workshop, and in particular one child who I brought down early to the studio in case he became dysregulated. As you saw, he was fully immersed for the entire time, which is fantastic! Lots of the children in my class need movement breaks, so a weekly or fortnightly slot with you has been brilliant.”
TEACHER, SEND SCHOOL, LONDON
“This programme has been beneficial to me. I have learnt many creative ways of engaging the children through movement… there are various ways of getting children to engage, focus, and at the same time, have lots of fun.”
PSYCHOLOGIST, NATIONAL AUTISM SOCIETY OF MALAYSIA — CREATIVE ARTS CENTRE, KUALA LUMPUR
“”Dance therapy really helps the children to decrease their maladaptive behaviours and increase their adaptive behaviours to concentrate the required length of time, especially in the classroom… They also have an improved sense of self and very much enhanced social skills.”
